Hope Mulligan, ACSW

One goal I always strive for in my sessions is to ensure a safe and inviting environment for children, adolescents, and families to discuss challenges and engage in the therapeutic process. I provide psychoeducation to build empathy, identify ways of coping with daily challenges, assist with building self-esteem, and focus on positive communication to achieve balance within one’s life.

In my work with children, I believe in the power of play therapy and utilize a variety of direct and non-direct play therapy approaches to help children build self-esteem, manage anxiety and express themselves through play and expressive arts.

In working with young adults, I believe in the importance of meeting individuals where they are on their journey toward healing and understand how our identity is impacted by our personality, cultural and ethnic and religious backgrounds, history and life experiences. I will work collaboratively with you to break down barriers helping you through the therapeutic process.

I received my master’s degree in social work from Michigan State University and have over 9 years of experience working with children, teens, and adults experiencing symptoms of trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD and other behavioral concerns. I also have experience working with individuals in the LGBTQ community. I have received training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, and Play Therapy. I enjoy working with parents in strengthening their attachment to their child. I am knowledgeable in different parenting practices that explore alternative parenting techniques based on empathy and child development.

Peace begins at home with safe conversations, soft hearts, and honest repair.” Author unknown
