New Clients

Coming to therapy for the first time can feel a little scary, but you came to this site because you want to make a better life for yourself and/or your family. You have taken the first step to create the change you want to see. Let us help you on your journey toward finding healthy and happy relationships.

At American River Family Counseling, we celebrate all types of families. We define family the way you do! Maybe you see yourself as a traditional family, or a family created by adoption or foster care or your chosen community. Single parent families and couples without children also come to ARFC because they know that our therapists treat each family unit as unique, creating individualized treatment plans that encompass each person’s strengths, diverse backgrounds, and cultural and spiritual identity.

When there is trauma and/or other high levels of stress in our early lives, we may find ourselves as adults unable to manage our emotions, impacting the relationships with our spouses or partners, our children and even those we work with.

We believe that healing can and does occur throughout our lifespan when we interact with others in caring, nurturing and responsive relationships.

Good Faith Estimate

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

It is always our intent to be as transparent as possible about our services fees and the services we provide. If you every have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact Edythe Swidler, LMFT, Owner of American River Family Counseling at edye@arfamilycounseling.com

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your therapist, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.
